Big crowd at the temple tonight for the movie " Forks over Knives". Interesting film about diet and how diseases can be treated with the right diet. Good discussion afterwards as well. Overall, it was a nice evening. I enjoy the films they show at the temple.

Well, haven't been posting very much as work has me bogged down. Saw the new "Sherlock Holmes" movie and enjoyed it. Not the best movie ever, but worth going to the early show for. Also saw "The Adventures of TinTin" as well. Also very good and also worth going to see at the early show. Really well done animation and looks like there will be another coming down the road. Right now, I'm just trying to have a calm evening at home.

Finished a paper I was writing...I guess. Sitting here listening to some music over the Roku. Soma FM is a really good music service out of California that I simply must donate to. Commercial free over the internet and on Roku. Lots of different genres of music. Had a headache most of the day. Took a couple advil for it and been drinking coffee. Seems to finally be going away. Figure I drunk too much Rum last night. Fell asleep on the couch last night about 11pm. Woke up about 4am to the TV still going. Got into bed and slept till 8 or so. There are times when I feel that I am fated to be alone. I guess I've had an ok life, rather frustrating at times, but it could have been worse, I suppose.

So, I went to the Jewish Temple today for New Years service and it was enjoyable. A bit long as in almost three hours, but no too bad. Lots of people there and a couple I recognized. I had never seen them there before so, I assume they show up just this time of the year. Anyway, it was a nice day out, which was good as I had to park a bit away from the Temple. After doing a bit of shopping (I needed a new curtain liner for the shower) I am now back home waiting to get the mail. My exciting day off!

Attempting to ignore all the 10th anniversary hoopla... I was in Cincinnati then, btw. Completed watching The Guild this morning. I have to say, I really enjoy it. I think waiting for more episodes will make me nuts though as they are only 5 to 10 minutes long. Got the laundry done and cleaned up a bit. I think I am having a bit of a depression problem already. Not really very happy right now even though it is a beautiful day out. Had a tough time sleeping last night. Felt like I wanted to cry a couple times. Not good over all. Right now, I'm sitting in Camino Bakery having a latte and just watching people go by. Having a bit of an emotional day. At times I feel like I'm just wasting time and am just really down on myself and the world in general. Most likely not a good thing. You know, watching the Guild, I laughed out loud for the first time in...well, a long time and I thought about that. I've been here and hour, so I think I'll head out and take some pics.

Out to dinner for sushi tonight. Just me and my Nook Color for company. I had been a long day. Came home and watched four seasons of The Guild. Fun web show. Very professional looking. Almost called Kim to see if I could stay at her place tonight. Just felt real lonely tonight and wanted to be around someone. Even sleeping with the cats in the spare bedroom would have been fine. It just suddenly became a rough evening for me. Guess I should re install the special lights into the living room lamps. Anyway, I just stayed at home and watched the Guild. HELL EXPLAINED BY A CHEMISTRY STUDENT

The following is an actual question given on a University of Arizona chemistry mid term, and an actual answer turned in by a student.

The answer by this student was so 'profound' that the professor shared it with colleagues, via the Internet, which is, of course, why we now have the pleasure of enjoying it as well :

Bonus Question: Is Hell exothermic (gives off heat) or endothermic (absorbs heat)?

Most of the students wrote proofs of their beliefs using Boyle's Law (gas cools when it expands and heats when it is compressed) or some variant.

One student, however, wrote the following:

First, we need to know how the mass of Hell is changing in time. So we need to know the rate at which souls are moving into Hell and the rate at which they are leaving, which is unlikely. I think that we can safely assume that once a soul gets to Hell, it will not leave. Therefore, no souls are leaving. As for how many souls are entering Hell, let's look at the different religions that exist in the world today.

Most of these religions state that if you are not a member of their religion, you will go to Hell. Since there is more than one of these religions and since people do not belong to more than one religion, we can project that all souls go to Hell. With birth and death rates as they are, we can expect the number of souls in Hell to increase exponentially. Now, we look at the rate of change of the volume in Hell because Boyle's Law states that in order for the temperature and pressure in Hell to stay the same, the volume of Hell has to expand proportionately as souls are added.

This gives two possibilities:

1. If Hell is expanding at a slower rate than the rate at which souls enter Hell, then the temperature and pressure in Hell will increase until all Hell breaks loose.

2. If Hell is expanding at a rate faster than the increase of souls in Hell, then the temperature and pressure will drop until Hell freezes over.

So which is it?

If we accept the postulate given to me by Teresa during my Freshman year that, 'It will be a cold day in Hell before I sleep with you,' and take into account the fact that I slept with her last night, then number two must be true, and thus I am sure that Hell is exothermic and has already frozen over. The corollary of this theory is that since Hell has frozen over, it follows that it is not accepting any more souls and is therefore, extinct..... ...leaving only Heaven, thereby proving the existence of a divine being which explains why, last night, Teresa kept shouting 'Oh my God.'

Whoopie. Another holiday, another day of hell at work tomorrow. So, here I sit, reading at home by myself. Had a good day on Sunday with going to the Buddhist center in Raleigh and cooking out at Kim's house. The smoke got to my eyes a bit, but it was a nice time.
Honestly, I wish we'd been open today. That way the mindless consumers wouldn't be rushing in tomorrow making Tuesday twice the hell Monday usually is.
Looking forward to next weekend. May go out of town on Saturday for a bit. Thinking of heading up to Boone for the day.

The Greek Crisis

Been reading about the Greek crisis a bit. I'm not an expert or anything but I was curious as to what really caused all the economic problems they seem to be having. Looks like Lehman brothers is partially responsible. Seems they were really good at covering up the debt problem for Greece before the shit hit the fan a few years ago (has it really been that long).
Another tid bit, looks like the wealthy can choose to pay no taxes in Greece. Seems that it is a common thing for rich to just not pay and taking them to court is a long process. Also, it looks like many of them have moved their money out of Greece, in large amounts, billions of euro. Seems pretty irresponsible and unpatriotic to me. Looks like more of the "I've got mine, fuck you" attitude we have in the good 'ol US of A.
As far as changing the tax laws to be more enforceable? Well, seems the political will just isn't there (ie, the politicians have been bought off). Sound familiar? It should, it's happening right here. We don't have a spending problem, we have an income problem. Until Americans wake up grow up and realize they are being ass fucked with a rake by the Republicans (and some Democrats), the wealthy and corporations then MOST of us are headed down a long dark road. An America in decline.

Well, the tech came and went. Seems the trouble IS outside and not in my hook up. This has been going on for almost a year and a half, granted just occasional outages. Well, maybe it will be done with later today when they look at the connections outside.
Still just hanging out at home. I've got some cool easy music on this Sunday morning via SOMA FM. Great listener supported music from California. Sometimes, I think about what my childhood would have been like if all this technology had been around when I was like 7 or 8. I've always been interested in other places and people, but haven't traveled that much. I think I would have liked all the access to other parts of the world that we have now through the internet.

Yes, I know it was a movie from the 80s. I don't think I ever saw it. Not my kind of film. Early on a Sunday morning and I am waiting for the Internet tech to show up and do....something, not sure what. Made some coffee and have some oatmeal getting ready. Not entirely sure what I will do today. Most likely watch a movie or some anime.
Went out last night. Saw the Bo Stevens play on Trade st. Ate dinner at Finnegan's Wake. May be the last time I go there for dinner, at least for a while. Food was...not so good and there was a big crowd, mostly drinking. I was by myself and felt really out of place. I'm two for two in the iffy dinners out department this week.

Watched the first 5 episodes of Ergo Proxy today. It reminds me of Lain in the pacing. A bit slow, but it is holding my interest with alot of mysteries and little clues with people working different angles of the mystery. Good animation. One for an adult audience.

It took over 30 years, but I have finally had another auto accident. My first was at 17. I was driving at 1966 Ford Thunderbird. 31 years later and I am driving a VW Beetle. Woman was in the right lane and just had to make a U-Turn right in front of me. What a night.

Yes, I'm nearing a thousand posts on here and I wonder if I've really said anything at all. Hopefully, it's been a little entertaining. It's a cloudy, foggy, rainy day outside. Cool as well. Not a good day for outside activity. Going to go out for a bit then back home to do some "homework" in the form of some reading.
I did buy myself a new Nook Color. So far I have enjoyed it's ease of use and the selection of books has been good. Lots of books for free through Barnes and Nobel.
I'm a little tired. Got about 6 hours sleep last night due to having to get the laundry finished and getting up early for work. Going to get something to eat. Good luck, everyone.

"Oh, yeah, this happens all the time," said Robert Willens, a tax accounting expert interviewed by McClatchy. "If you go out and try to make money and you don't do it, why should the government pay you for your losses?" asked Bob McIntyre of Citizens for Tax Justice. The same year, the mega-bank's top executives received pay "ranging from $6 million to nearly $30 million."
- BOEING: Despite receiving billions of dollars from the federal government every single year in taxpayer subsidies from the U.S. government, Boeing didn't "pay a dime of U.S. federal corporate income taxes" between 2008 and 2010.

Day 2 of My Mini Vacation

The first day was pretty nice. Did some cleaning, had sushi for lunch, went down to Krankies for a but and had dinner with Kim Mitchell. It was a nice relaxing day.
Today, just getting the place a little more organized. Throwing some stuff out. Might be going Contra dancing in Durham tonight. Life rolls on.
