There are times when I really feel that Republicans are out to destroy America. This is one of those times. LINK to full story.
GOP Passes "Let Women Die" Bill; Representative Praises Their "Fight for Rights of Women"

Foregoing any interest in getting America back to work, House Republicans continued their campaign against women’s health yesterday by passing the “Protect Life Act.” Known as the “Let Woman Die” act to women’s health advocates, the radical measure would allow hospitals that receive federal funds to reject any pregnant woman seeking an abortion in any circumstance, even if it is necessary to save her life.

Oh, The Weekend
Finally, the weekend is almost here. Likely will go out Friday night, have a drink. Supposed to be dry, but cool Friday night, which is fine with me. Might take my camera and take some pictures while I am out and about this weekend. Going to hang out with Mick on Saturday, maybe see a movie with Will that night (the new Thing remake) and Sunday....well, not sure. Brunch, at some point. May zip over to Raleigh for the Buddhist center or may not. Walking Dead with some friends to round out the weekend on Sunday night. Overall a relaxing weekend.

Another Monday
Back to work. Looks to be a great day outside today. Unfortunately, I'll be inside for most of it. Fall is not one of my favorite seasons. Reminds me of old age and the coming Winter/ death. Guess it's like everything, a big life cycle. Already looking forward to Spring.

A Quiet Sunday Afternoon
Finished a paper I was writing...I guess. Sitting here listening to some music over the Roku. Soma FM is a really good music service out of California that I simply must donate to. Commercial free over the internet and on Roku. Lots of different genres of music.
Had a headache most of the day. Took a couple advil for it and been drinking coffee. Seems to finally be going away. Figure I drunk too much Rum last night. Fell asleep on the couch last night about 11pm. Woke up about 4am to the TV still going. Got into bed and slept till 8 or so. There are times when I feel that I am fated to be alone. I guess I've had an ok life, rather frustrating at times, but it could have been worse, I suppose.
From the Winston Salem Journal
Good moral guide?
It appears that the Journal's favorite conservative letter writer has found another topic for judgment, pointing out that we must condemn homosexuality because the Bible says so, and "the Bible is the best guide for moral behavior" ("Name-calling," Sept. 29). But followers of the Bible have used this moral guide to defend such behavior as going to war, committing genocide, and practicing slavery and segregation. If it were such a good moral guide, how could that happen?
One might say that people misuse the Bible. But if the Bible can be so easily misused, how can it be a superior moral guide? And how do we know that it's not being misused now to condemn homosexuality? The Bible endorses slavery, a practice that harmed many, to say the least, every bit as much as it condemns homosexuality, a practice that harms no one.
Giving one's will and judgment over to a 2,000-year-old tome written by people who were limited in experience and understanding seems to me like a convenient way of surrendering one's own responsibility for using one's mind.
