They Might be Giants

Drove down to Charlotte with a couple friends and caught They Might be Giants at the Neighborhood Theater. It was a great show with a bonus. We got there a bit early and had dinner next door. Low and behold, there was the band, so we had dinner with the band and had a great time. It was the fourth time I had seen them and was the best so far.

Raise the Roof!

Woops!

Looks like I messed up on the day for the ground breaking of the new stadium. It's THIS tuesday at 5pm. Looks like I will be able to be there after all. I even found a funky "ticket" for it at the local coffee shop (it's a free event, so no ticket is really needed).

Beautiful Day...

Yeah, after 2 days of much needed rain, the clouds parted and gave us a wonderful day. Low 70s, sunny.... I took a drive around the city with my windows down and just stayed outside all day long. Too bad it cant just stay like this all the time. It reminds me of spring with the leaves providing the colors that the flowers do then.

So, Virginia Foxx is having a chat to get to know the people of the 5th. Here is the info-

Foxx invites you to participate in a Telephone Town Hall on October 30

Constituents can call into the telephone town hall from anywhere in the Fifth District

"As your member of Congress, it’s important to hear directly the issues that are important to you,” Foxx said. “On Tuesday, October 30 from 7:30 pm to 8:30 pm, I am hosting a “Telephone Town Hall Meeting.” It’s easy to participate – just call the toll free number 1-877-850-4133. You can listen in or ask questions at our telephone town hall meeting by calling 1-877-850-4133. The password for the call is F-O-X-X."

Constituents will be connected to a live conference call with Rep. Foxx and other constituents in the Fifth District when they call 1-877-850-4133 on October 30 at 7:30 pm. Participants will be able to ask Rep. Foxx questions about the issues that are important to them.

This telephone town hall is open only to constituents in North Carolina’s Fifth District.

Oh, I'll be calling in alright. I will have to put some thought into what I want to ask. Have to keep thinking "Be nice, be nice, be nice....".

New Stadium

I've been noticing the work being done to get the ground ready for the new stadium to be built. I'm looking forward to walking over and watching games in the future. The official ground breaking will be tomorrow and I will be at work, but I am happy to see it happen!

Colbert's New Book

Been reading it and it's pretty damn funny. Lots of good little bits. I'm just thru the first chapter so I'll save a full review for later. Halloween is almost here. Looking forward to it, but not the rest of the season. Not very fond of winter. Gets dark way too early for me and way too cold.

Stephen Colbert Announces as a Candidate for President

Stephen Colbert Announces as a Candidate for President -- Seeks Nod of Both Parties!

By E&P Staff

Published: October 11, 2007 10:05 PM ET

NEW YORK Appearing on Larry King's CNN show Thursday night, Stephen Colbert was accused by the host of using the publication of his new book as a platform to run for president. Colbert happily confirmed this, saying that he would seek the nomination from both parties.

When King said this was a "cop out," Colbert, host of his own talk show, The Colbert Report on Comedy Central, said that it actually demonstrated true "courage" because "I could lose twice."

He said he would run on a state by state basis, perhaps starting in his home state, South Carolina, as a "favorite son."

He would not say that he was unimpressed by the current crop of candidates -- but did allow that Fred Thompson's campaign slogan should be, "Do Not Disturb."

When King had asked, with a thumb pointing up, if he planned to run for the top office, Colbert said, "You mean God? No, dial it down one notch." He said the presidency was the only for him since "I am not a bridesmaid."

His book is titled "I Am America (and So Can You!)."

At the VW Dealership

Hanging out at the dealership, just waiting on my car to be ready. Just it's regular check up, nothing major. I have the day off so I'm going to the Dixie Classic Fair tonight. It's a beautiful day out.
