Hysterical Ann?

Despite the fact that FOX News’ own poll shows that 82% of the public believes that global warming exists and that 79% believe that human activity plays at least some role, FAUX News Channel continues to demean those who are concerned about it. Last night, Sean Hannity was in a lather about Al Gore’s Academy Award for his documentary “An Inconvenient Truth” and the “green” Oscars ceremony. Deborah noted that John Gibson was green with bile over the ceremony. Hannity was red with bullyboy belligerence. So who did he trot out to bolster his argument that Gore and Hollywood are environmental hypocrites? No, not another scientist in the pocket of the energy industry – someone even less credible: Ann Coulter.

Coulter was unusually giddy last night though, unlike her “boombox” appearance, relatively lucid, albeit inane. The “we report, you decide” network posted “Warming Hysteria” on the screen. But all the hysteria seemed to come from Coulter who jabbered about liberals being anti-human, wanting to do away with indoor plumbing and using candles instead of electricity. Maybe she was just excited because her recent cosmetic work seems to have healed sufficiently so that her skin just looks abnormally stretched across her cheekbones. Or maybe she was just keyed up at the opportunity to attack her fellow Americans for new, “scientific” reasons.

By contrast, guests actress Daryl Hannah and Jon Coifman, of NRDC, came across as the voices of sanity. They repeatedly stressed that they were talking about simple steps, “clean, renewable energy,” not “living in a mud hut.”

That prompted a fidgety Coulter to ask, sarcastically, “Daryl, do you know how the light goes on, almost like magic, when you flick a switch in your house?” When Hannah replied that she’s living off the grid, Coulter responded, “So, you’re living with candles.” The middle aged Coulter burst into giggles at her own humor.

Something tells me that even the FOX News audience is not going to find her persuasive.

Take me out to the Ballgame

Well, folks, it looks like it is a done-deal. Baseball will be moving to downtown Winston. Honestly, the nice thing for me is I will be able to walk to the ballpark. I went to a few Reds games back when I was living in Cincinnati and saw the first night game at thier new ball park. Sure, baseball can be slow, but just going to the park and enjoying being there is why I go. I can't wait for the first "Play Ball".

Edwards on Iraq

Ok, I get it. You made a mistake and based on the lies and distortions that the Bush Administration labeled as "Intelligence", you voted for authorizing troops. Fine. I know it was a mistake and so do you. You've said that you regret it and appoligized. Time to move on.
Seems like every time I see, hear or read about Sen. Edwards, this is something he brings up. There are other things to discuss, you know. Global climate change, Health Care, Social Security, Deficits, tax cuts for the wealthy.... the list is almost endless.
You're in danger of becoming a one-note candidate, much like MSNBC is in danger of becoming the "Anna Nicole Smith Drama Channel". Can we PLEASE hear about other issues?

$9.36 Minimum Wage in Greensboro

Looks like there is a movement to make $9.36 per hour the minimum wage, in Greensboro anyway. Frankly, that's about where it NEEDs to be for everyone, not just in Greensboro. Anyway, here is the website address below....

XM & Sirius to Merge

ABC News Has Confirmed That Satellite Radio Providers XM and Sirius Will Announce a Merger Today
Feb. 19, 2007 — - ABC News has confirmed reports that two satellite radio providers XM and Sirius will announce a long-anticipated merger today.

The two companies worked over the weekend to finalize a plan that is expected to be structured as a "merger of equals," although ABC News has learned the plan calls for Sirius CEO Mel Karamzen to run the new company.

The merger would require regulatory approval as well as anti-trust scrutiny.

Kevin Martin, chairman of the Federal Communications Commission, reportedly said last month that a merger could not be approved under current FCC regulations.

Reuters contributed to this story.
