Downloading Like a Maniac

Yeah, I really like my IPod. I bought myself a 30gig Video IPod for Christmas and I am digging it. I snagged some speakers for it as well. I like listening to music at night before falling asleep. I used to listen to Hearts of Space, but the local public radio station doesn't carry it. Too bad they don't podcast.
So, I found this Podcast from the Netherlands of "Spacemusic" that I really like. The website is- www.spacemusic.nl . He podcasts every other week. Very cool soothing music. I also discovered a record company called Waveform Records that has some good stuff. The website is- www.waveformhq.com .
If anyone reading this has any suggestions for more of this type of music, please let me know.

Negativland in Winston Salem

First, I have a little cold, so this won't be very long. Went to the Warehouse last night to catch Negativland. Terrific show. Mark was the rep for the group and had some interesting things to say about copyright and artistic expression. In between he showed some videos and went over the history of the "band".
The website is- www.negativland.com , go take a look and buy something. These guys deserve your support. Mark lives in Ashville, NC and I look forward to checking out more releases from Negativland in the future.
While you're at it, check out the website for the Werehouse- www.thewerehouse.com . They deserve your support, as well.

What do YOU think? A Wasteland?

This is Kathy. She works and, I assume, lives here in Winston Salem. Now, Winston isn't a big city and it can be a bit slow, but I remember the bad old days not so long ago. NOTHING was happening downtown, but back to Kathy. She works at the Garage and writes a piece for GoTriad, a weekly focused mainly on Greensboro. Here is what Kathy had to say recently about downtown Winston-
"For as long as I can remember, Winston-Salem has been making a lot of noise about revitalizing downtown. Yet, downtown remains largely deserted after hours. It's quite eerie wandering down empty streets past scores of empty buildings, which now includes Thea's.
Recently, a musician from Asheville played at The Garage, and she told me that she felt so strange rolling into town and seeing no people around. She kept wondering where everyone was. Where was Winston-Salem?
Everyone in Winston-Salem needs to wander over to Greensboro for a night and see how a city is supposed to be. On any given night, Elm Street is bustling with activity. There are few if any empty storefronts, and if there are vacant storefronts, I certainly don't notice any because there's so much going on. Although two new establishments have opened in Winston-Salem's downtown (Elliot's Review – an independently owned all-night coffee shop – and The Mellow Mushroom – a chain restaurant) the vacant buildings and lack of foot traffic are immediately apparent to any newcomer. I wonder what visitors to our town think about this. Are they merely puzzled? Are they grateful to return to their own life-infused city after visiting a ghost town?
I mourne the unfortunate demise of my neighbor and ally in bringing live music to this town. Not only did Thea's create one more downtown destination, but it added a particular flavor to the scene. It was a music club that catered to a specific musical palate. It's absence is distinctly apparent not only to jazz and blues buffs, but also to me."
Now, she is taking the place of a woman who did a very good job promoting what was going on in Winston. Perhaps Kathy doesn't get out of her little area of downtown Winston very much. If she did, she would see things are happening and that it is just as active, if not more so, than Greensboro.
The Werehouse is hosting movies every monday night from around the world. Cost? FREE. They also have a pretty good coffee bar there. Check it out at- www.thewerehouse.com/
There are new condos being built in the Arts District, right down the street from where she works. People are buying and moving downtown. This is helping to attract places like- The Mellow Mushroom, a new Irish Pub and more to the area.
Something IS happening downtown, Kathy. Sorry you can't see it.

Worst Person in the World!

Keith Obermann gave Fox NEWS 2 out of three of his "Worst Person in the World" awards. Keith calls it as he sees it and is one of the few news shows on MSNBC that I enjoy watching anymore. Click the title above to get to a quick time of the awards.

April 19 2004 He LIED

Here is part of the text from a speech Bush gave on April 19 2004. As we know, Bush had already been spying on Americans for atleast 2 years prior to this speech, Illegally I might add...

"Secondly, there are such things as roving wiretaps. Now, by the way, any time you hear the United States government talking about wiretap, it requires -- a wiretap requires a court order. Nothing has changed, by the way. When we're talking about chasing down terrorists, we're talking about getting a court order before we do so. It's important for our fellow citizens to understand, when you think Patriot Act, constitutional guarantees are in place when it comes to doing what is necessary to protect our homeland, because we value the Constitution. "

A bald face lie. When will the Impeachment begin?
